About Breakara Demolition

One island, covered end to end. Breakara Demolition is a demolition company serving the whole of Staten Island.

How we work

A price given without seeing the property is a guess.

We come and look before quoting. A price given without seeing the property is a guess, and guesses get corrected once somebody is standing on it.

Seeing the job first means the quote is built on the actual structure, the actual access and the actual material coming out, rather than on a description of them. If the job turns out smaller than you expected, we will tell you that too.

Broken concrete with rebar, weathered timber and lath-backed plaster on bare ground.

Working on someone’s property

This work happens on ground the customer owns and intends to keep using. What the driveway carries, which trees stay, where the material goes and what the lot looks like when we leave are part of the job, not an afterthought to it.

That is the difference between demolition on a lot and demolition on a site. Almost everything we take on here is the first kind.

What we look at first

Every job starts with the same three questions, and answering them before anything starts is what keeps a demolition predictable.

What is holding it up

Which walls are structural, where the load paths run, and what stays standing when the rest comes off. On a semi-attached property this is the first thing and it decides everything after it.

What is running through it

Water, gas and electrical. Which are live, which are dead, and which feed a part of the property that is staying in use.

How things get in and out

Machinery in, material out, and how many movements a day the access actually allows. This is the question that most often separates two jobs that sounded identical when they were described.

The size of job we take

One room to a whole structure, residential and commercial.

Residential and commercial. A single room stripped back is a job, and so is a whole structure. One driveway is a job.

Houses, detached and semi-attached, rental units, offices and commercial space. The size matters less than the access, the structure and what has to stay standing around it, and those are the things we look at first.

When something turns up mid-job

You hear about it the day we find it.

Old buildings hide things. A foundation that runs wider than the walls did, a slab poured over an older slab, a service line nobody has a record of.

When we find one we tell you the day we find it, we tell you what it changes about the work and about the figure, and we agree the change with you before we carry on with it.

Start with someone on the property

Tell us what is on the property. We will come and look, and you will know what the job involves before you decide anything.
